How much does an AI SDR cost?

Updated: September 4, 2026 · By Teckel AI

A subscription AI SDR platform runs roughly 500 to 10,000 USD per month depending on contact volume and how many mailboxes you send from, and 2026 industry pricing guides put another 200 to 800 USD per month on top for sending domains, inbox warmup, data enrichment and email verification. A custom agent built into your own operation is quoted against a fixed scope after a diagnosis, plus a monthly inference cost.

That is the answer to the question as asked. The more useful answer is that the subscription is the cheapest line on the bill, and it is almost never what decides whether the thing works. Three other costs decide that: the data you feed it, the deliverability you have to earn before volume means anything, and the adoption you get from the people who are supposed to work the meetings it books. This guide prices all four.

What is an AI SDR, in one paragraph?

An AI SDR is a software agent that does the sales development job: it builds and enriches a target list, writes and sends the first touch, follows up on a cadence, answers the easy replies, qualifies against your criteria, books the meeting on a calendar and writes the whole thing into your CRM. It is not an email automation tool with a template library. The difference is that a sequencing tool executes a script you wrote, while an agent reads the reply, decides what to do next and hands you a qualified conversation or a clean disqualification. The Spanish edition of this guide walks through what it does step by step in more detail.

How much does an AI SDR cost in 2026?

There are three ways to buy one and they price very differently. A human SDR is included as the reference point, because that is the comparison every buyer is actually making.

ModelWhat it isApproximate 2026 cost
Subscription platform An off the shelf AI SDR you rent by mailbox or by contact volume 500 to 10,000 USD per month by volume, plus 200 to 800 USD per month for domains, inbox warmup, data and verification, according to industry pricing guides published in 2026
Custom, inside your operation An agent designed around your process, wired into your CRM and your channels, writing in your brand's voice Quoted against a fixed scope after a diagnosis, plus a monthly inference cost. Cheaper to run and more expensive to start than a subscription, and it stops being a rental you can be repriced out of
Human SDR (reference) One full time person dedicated to prospecting In the United States, B2B sales compensation analyses put the fully loaded cost at about 90,000 to 100,000 USD per year against a 55,000 to 60,000 base. Outside the United States the salary is lower, but recruiting, benefits, tooling and ramp still apply

Read that table as a comparison of timelines rather than a comparison of price tags. A human SDR is not expensive because of the salary; they are expensive because of recruiting, tooling, turnover and the quarter it takes before they produce. The honest framing is an agent that is live in weeks against a hire that produces in quarters, and the agent does not forget a follow up.

What does the quote leave out?

This is the uncomfortable part. The prospecting agent is the easy component. The expensive components, and the ones that decide whether the investment returns anything, sit around it: clean prospect data, CRM integration, messaging that sounds like your company, and a team that actually uses what the agent hands them.

The aggregate numbers say the same thing. McKinsey reported in November 2025 that 88% of companies already use AI in at least one function while only 6% see a material impact on the bottom line. Buying the tool is rarely the problem; converting it into a result is. MIT research in 2025 found that 95% of generative AI pilots return nothing, and Gartner projected in June 2025 that more than 40% of agentic AI projects will be cancelled before the end of 2027 on cost overruns, unclear value or insufficient risk controls.

The same MIT work points at the fix rather than at abandonment: projects built with outside specialists succeeded 67% of the time against 33% for those done only in house. The AI SDR that works is not the one that demos best. It is the one that ends up properly integrated into your operation and adopted by your team.

Why do AI SDRs stop getting replies?

Because in most cases the mail never reached an inbox, and no amount of message quality fixes a message that was rejected at the receiving server. This is the section that vendor pages skip, and it is the one that changes what you can buy.

Gmail set the terms first. Announcing the rules in October 2023, Neil Kumaran, Group Product Manager for Gmail Security and Trust, wrote that from February 2024 Gmail would require bulk senders, defined as "those who send more than 5,000 messages to Gmail addresses in one day", to authenticate their mail and to let recipients unsubscribe in one click, processed within two days. On the third requirement he was explicit about what was new: "we'll enforce a clear spam rate threshold that senders must stay under to ensure Gmail recipients aren't bombarded with unwanted messages. This is an industry first."

Microsoft followed. In a post on the Microsoft Defender for Office 365 blog dated April 2, 2025, Outlook announced the same 5,000 messages per day threshold for its consumer domains, requiring SPF and DKIM to pass and DMARC at a minimum of p=none aligned with one of them. Enforcement began on May 5, 2025. Worth getting right, because a lot of secondary coverage got it wrong: Microsoft's own post says non compliant high volume mail is routed to the Junk folder from that date, with outright rejection announced as a future step rather than the immediate one.

The practical consequence for anyone pricing an AI SDR is that your volume ceiling is set by recipient complaints and authentication, not by your tool's capacity. Sending more is now the fastest way to send less. That reframes the whole purchase: the money that matters goes into list quality, domain and mailbox infrastructure, warmup time and relevance, and those are exactly the items a per seat subscription quote does not include.

Does an AI SDR work in Spanish and in Latin America?

Yes, when it is built for that market rather than translated into it. This is where an English language platform with localized copy quietly fails, on three separate counts.

Does it replace your sales team?

No, and anyone selling it that way is selling something that does not exist. An AI SDR replaces the repetitive part of prospecting and follow up. It does not replace closing, and it does not replace the relationship. What it buys back is the hours your salesperson currently loses to list building, CRM entry and first touch email, so that time goes to conversations that already carry intent. The human stays in charge of the moment the deal is actually decided.

Five things to have in place before you buy one

How to measure it without fooling yourself

Keep five numbers separate and never let one stand in for another: messages delivered, replies, qualified conversations, meetings held, and closed revenue. Delivery rate belongs at the top of that list because it is the one that silently invalidates everything below it. A campaign with a great reply rate on a tenth of the intended volume is a deliverability problem wearing a success metric.

Then compare against the right baseline: what your outbound produced in the same period before the agent, with the same offer. Not against the vendor's case study, and not against the demo.

Where Teckel AI fits

Teckel AI is an applied artificial intelligence consultancy. We build agents inside a company's own operation rather than reselling a seat, and prospecting agents in Spanish and English are one of the things we build, wired into the CRM and into WhatsApp where that is the channel that matters. We have systems in production in five countries, including a travel SaaS in Singapore, a customs group in Mexico, a real estate portal in El Salvador and a Mexican real estate firm running an agentic sales system.

The entry point is a free diagnosis: you describe the sales motion and we tell you whether an AI SDR is the right instrument for it, and what would have to be true first. A deeper strategy report is $50 USD. A full Implementation Sprint starts at $5,000 USD with a demo in 48 hours and production in 21 days, and if the bottleneck turns out to be the website rather than the outbound, our AI Websites start at $2,500 USD.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI SDR cost in 2026?

Subscription platforms run roughly 500 to 10,000 USD per month depending on contact volume and number of mailboxes, and industry pricing guides published in 2026 put another 200 to 800 USD per month on top of that for sending domains, inbox warmup, data enrichment and email verification. A custom agent built into your own operation is quoted against a fixed scope after a diagnosis, plus a monthly inference cost. For reference, B2B sales compensation analyses put the fully loaded cost of a human SDR in the United States at about 90,000 to 100,000 USD per year against a base salary of 55,000 to 60,000.

What costs are not in the AI SDR quote?

Four of them, and together they usually exceed the subscription. Clean prospect data and verification. CRM integration and the cleanup that comes with it. Message and offer work, because the agent only amplifies the offer you already have. And adoption, meaning a sales team that actually works the meetings the agent books. McKinsey reported in November 2025 that 88% of companies use AI in at least one function while only 6% see material bottom line impact, which is the gap between buying a tool and getting a result.

Why do AI SDRs stop getting replies?

Usually because the mail never reached the inbox. Since February 2024 Gmail requires bulk senders, defined as those sending more than 5,000 messages to Gmail addresses in one day, to authenticate their mail, offer one click unsubscribe processed within two days, and stay under a reported spam rate threshold. Microsoft announced equivalent requirements for Outlook.com on April 2, 2025, enforced from May 5, 2025, first routing non compliant high volume mail to Junk and warning that it may be rejected outright later. Volume is now capped by recipient complaints and authentication, not by what your tool can send.

Does an AI SDR replace my sales team?

No. It replaces the repetitive part of prospecting and follow up, not closing and not the relationship. It frees a salesperson from list building, CRM entry and first touch email so their time goes to conversations that already carry intent. Any vendor selling it as a replacement for the team is selling you something that does not exist.

Does an AI SDR work in Spanish and in Latin America?

Yes, if it is built for that rather than translated into it. A Spanish language agent needs the right register, it needs WhatsApp alongside email because that is where the conversation actually happens in Mexico and much of the region, and it needs to respect local data protection law. Mexico replaced its 2010 data protection statute with a new Ley Federal de Proteccion de Datos Personales en Posesion de los Particulares published in the Diario Oficial de la Federacion on March 20, 2025, which moved enforcement to the Secretaria Anticorrupcion y Buen Gobierno. An English platform with translated copy fails on all three counts.

How long before an AI SDR produces meetings?

Plan for weeks, not days, and most of that time is not the agent. Sending domains need to be bought, authenticated and warmed before volume ramps, lists need to be built and verified, and the CRM has to be ready to receive what the agent produces. A narrow first use case that is live and measured beats a broad rollout that is still being configured. MIT research in 2025 found that projects built with outside specialists succeeded 67% of the time against 33% for those done only in house.
